$3,000 GRAND PRIZE COURAGEOUS PERSUADERS AWARD DANGERS OF UNDERAGE DRINKING

The Grand Prize-winning commercial will be seen on television! Prior to airing, the student or team that produced the commercial will have an opportunity to have a hands-on experience by working with video editing/production professionals to upgrade the commercial for broadcasting. The winning team will also receive a $3,000 scholarship provided by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) Education Foundation.

$2,500 STATE FARM FAN FAVORITE AWARD – TO SCHOOL $1,000 STATE FARM FAN FAVORITE AWARD – TO STUDENT/TEAM NATIONAL AWARD

The public will have the chance to view all Finalist Commercials and vote for their favorite in April. The commercial that receives the most “likes” will receive the State Farm Fan Favorite Award. The school of the Team Captain that produced the commercial that received the highest number of votes will receive a $2,500 cash prize to go toward the enrichment of the Courageous Persuaders program in their school. The student/team that created the commercial will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

$2,000 ADCRAFT DETROIT AWARD

A $2,000 scholarship is contributed by Adcraft Detroit, the largest advertising club in America, for educating students about the dangers of alcohol by increasing the understanding and awareness of the facts about the dangers of underage drinking. Adcraft Detroit will award the team whose commercial conveys factual information about the dangers of alcohol use in the most persuasive and creative manner.

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL - COURAGEOUS LEADER AWARD

The Courageous Leader Award is presented to a teacher or community leader that made a major contribution to the Courageous Persuaders program. The Wall Street Journal is America’s largest newspaper by paid circulation with more than 2.2 million customers. $2,000 HAROLD AND CAROLYN ROBISON FOUNDATION AWARD

In 2015, The DADA Education Foundation expanded the Courageous Persuaders program to also include the dangers of texting while driving. This award is provided by the DADA Education Foundation and the generous support of corporate and foundation partners to help continue this important and influential program.

$1,500 LINDSEY RENEE CIANCIOLO FAMILY - MEMORIAL FUND AWARD

The Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Family Memorial Fund began sponsoring two $1,500 Michigan scholarships in 2007. The scholarships are financed by Lindsey’s father, Michael, and her sisters, Allie and Mary Cianciolo. Lindsey died on January 5, 2005 at the age of 20 in a motor vehicle accident which was largely caused by underage drinking. In addition to honoring Lindsey’s memory, the Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Family Memorial Award rewards students taking the initiative to publicly denounce underage drinking, and recognizes the winners for the strength and courage they exhibit in this endeavor so that fewer lives will be lost in the future.

$1,500 FRIENDS OF LINDSEY RENEE CIANCIOLO - MEMORIAL FUND AWARD

The Friends of Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Memorial Fund has contributed several state and national scholarships since 2007. The law firm of Hickey, Cianciolo, Finn & Atkins, P.C., was the first contributor to the Friends of Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Memorial Fund and hopes to continue supporting Courageous Persuaders for many years to come in this important endeavor. Individual contributions to the Friends of Lindsey Renee Cianciolo Memorial Fund will help fund future state and national scholarships.

$1,000 STATE FARM AWARD NATIONAL AWARD

State Farm Insurance will award a $1,000 scholarship to the student/team that creates a commercial that shows the dangers and consequences of underage drinking while driving. State Farm will select the winning commercial based on persuasiveness and creativity. The winning project will also be highlighted during National Teen Driver Safety Week in October.

$1,000 2ND PLACE COURAGEOUS PERSUADERS AWARD DANGERS OF UNDERAGE DRINKING

The second place award is provided by the DADA Education Foundation. These videos are viewed and judged on their persuasiveness by volunteer middle school classrooms nationwide.

$500 3RD PLACE COURAGEOUS PERSUADERS AWARD DANGERS OF UNDERAGE DRINKING

The third place award is provided by the DADA Education Foundation. These videos are viewed and judged on their persuasiveness by volunteer middle school classrooms nationwide.

$250 COLLEGE FOR CREATIVE STUDIES (CCS) AWARD

CCS will award a $250 scholarship. The CCS Advertising Department faculty reviews the student’s work then gives it a rating. The three rating categories are:

Cognition–the work contained a thoughtful approach to the problem, solved it in a unique way and communicated a clear message.

Creativity–the work had a unique idea and approach to solving the problem. It stood out from the other spots and was memorable.

Craftsmanship–the work demonstrated superior filmmaking, writing, editorial and finishing skills.
